Vacation Packages Policies and Conditions

General Conditions

  • All rates are PER PERSON based on double occupancy (unless indicated otherwise) 
  • All rates are US$ (US Dollars)
  • Personalized quotations are available upon request 
  • Rates do not include alcoholic beverages, unless indicated otherwise as a Special Offer
  • Resort Boat Schedule: 3pm from Dangriga to the island; 8:30-9:00am from the island to Dangriga (Arrival boat schedule is flexible to change upon request depending on international flight arrival)
  • Minimum length of stay: 3 nights year-round except Christmas/New Year’s Week and Easter which both require 5 nights minimum. Recommended length of stay is 4 or 5 nights minimum year-round.
  • Hotel Incidentals: All on-site purchases can be charged to room and settled upon check-out.
  • Staff Gratuities: Package rates do not include staff gratuities and is at the discretion of guest. Suggested gratuity shared with all staff is 10-15% of package cost.
  • All rates are subject to change without notice

Deposits/Payments

  • 30% deposit is required within 14 days of booking confirmation to guarantee reservation; final balance is due 45 days prior to arrival.
  • Forms of Payment: VISA and MasterCard Accepted or International Wire Transfer. Charges are made in US currency and may be subject to international transaction fees as the bank is located in Belize.
  • Once at the resort, on-site purchases and incidentals can be settled upon check-out by VISA, MasterCard, or Cash.

Peak and High Season Bookings

  • Minimum length of stay: 3 nights year-round except Christmas/New Year’s Week (December 23, 2020 – January 3, 2021) and Easter (Mar 31 – Apr 5, 2021) which both require 5 nights minimum. Recommended length of stay is 4 or 5 nights minimum year-round.

Cancellation Policy

  • All cancellations must be made in writing and confirmed by the resort to be considered valid.
  • Reservation Cancellation: Cancellation 61+ days or more of scheduled arrival date will incur a fee of $100.00 per person plus 5% applicable bank charges. Cancellation 60-46 days of scheduled arrival date will forfeit 50% of deposit. Cancellation 45 days or less is non-refundable.
  • Unused portion of package purchased is non-refundable, including room stay, meals, boat transfers or tours.
  • Cancellations or early departures due to world events, cancelled or delayed flights, weather conditions, strikes or political unrest are all subject to our cancellation policy.

Travel Insurance

  • Limit of Responsibility: The Blue Marlin Beach Resort assumes no responsibility for delays or cancellations due to world events, cancelled or delayed flights, weather conditions, loss of luggage by airline, etc. Blue Marlin Beach Resort assumes no responsibility for additional expenses incurred by guests prior to arrival or after departure from the resort.
  • The Blue Marlin Beach Resort assumes no responsibility for damages to or loss of property, or for injuries of any kind to any person(s) resulting directly or indirectly from services rendered by the resort, or when participating in an activity, or for any reason beyond our control.
  • The Blue Marlin Beach Resort highly recommends that you purchase comprehensive travel insurance in case of unforeseen circumstances such as cancellation charges, loss or damage of personal property and medical expenses. To help you plan for the unexpected, we recommend you check out the following agencies: for general travel protection www.worldnomads.com Or www.travelguard.com; for Scuba Diving insurance check out DAN (Divers Alert Network). Kindly contact these agencies directly to purchase your policy.

Proof of Citizenship/Visa requirements

  • Guests are responsible for determining and obtaining proper entry documentation. All foreign nationals require a passport to enter Belize. Visitors from some countries may require a visa. No refunds will be granted for denied entry caused by failure to carry proper proof of citizenship or the appropriate visa.

Child Policy

  • Children of all ages are welcome to stay at Blue Marlin however our outdoor adventure setting is best for children aged 7 years or older.
  • Children may share parent’s room using existing bedding. Units suitable for a family with young children include the Seafront Family Cabana, the Garden Family Suite, and the Seaview Room Lower Level. These units allow 2 or 3 children maximum using existing bedding. Pack-n-Play, booster seats and high chairs are available upon request.
  • Child rates apply for 3 – 10 years; Teenager rates apply for 11 – 15 years; 16 years and older pay adult price; 2 years and under stay free.
  • All children pay full price for local hopper flights once they occupy an individual seat.
  • Blue Marlin Beach Resort does not offer a Hotel Kid’s Program so parents should plan ahead to schedule recreation time with their children throughout the day. On-site activities that are kid-friendly include Dock Patrol, Bird Watching, and Island Walk. Kids aged 8 years and older can participate on Bubblemaker for Kids, or Discover Scuba for 10 years and older.

Local Hopper Flights & Tours by Air

  • Blue Marlin Beach Resort is acting as an agent for suppliers in selling Local Hopper Flights or Tours by Air that are arranged on behalf of guests. Blue Marlin Beach Resort, therefore, shall not be responsible for breach of contract of any intentional or careless actions or omissions on part of such suppliers, which result in any loss, damage, delay, or injury to you or your travel companions or group members. The Blue Marlin Beach Resort highly recommends that you purchase comprehensive travel insurance in case of unforeseen circumstances.
  • Once travel commences, cancellation of local hopper flight reservation is non-refundable.

Meals

  • Blue Marlin Beach Resort serves excellent Belizean and regional cuisine with international influences. Blue Marlin Beach Resort uses the best available ingredients combining fresh produce, seafood and items from the surrounding area producing a tantalizing variety of meal choices. Blue Marlin Beach Resort is flexible and tries to cater to special dietary requirements. Vegetarian options are available for all meals (due to our remote location, please notify Blue Marlin Beach Resort of special dietary requirements at the time of booking). Meals are offered on a chef’s choice set menu, but exceptions are made for dietary restrictions.
  • Breakfast is served from 7:00 – 9:00 am. Full breakfast is included in room rates. Breakfast varies daily and comprises home baked breads, pancakes or waffles, fresh fruit, eggs made to order, Chef’s choice breakfast meat (Bacon, ham, sausage), granola, yogurt, cheese, juice, coffee and hot tea.
  • Lunch is served from 11:30 am – 2:30 pm. The lunch menu offers a variety of Belizean and regional favorites. Snack is served from 4:00pm- 4:30 pm
  • Dinner is served from 6:00 – 9:00 pm. Dinner includes a soup or salad, main course, and dessert accompanied by home baked bread. Each menu includes a seafood, vegetarian Appetizers beyond soup or salad are available for an additional charge.

Release Forms

  • Tour Participation Policy: All scheduled snorkel and dive trips are subject to change dependent on weather conditions. Bad weather can cause a scheduled trip cancellation. The resort management solely determines whether a trip will depart if weather and/or sea conditions are not favourable.
  • All snorkel and dive participants will be required to sign Blue Marlin’s Affirmation, Waiver and Release form along with Medical History disclosure prior to tour departure.
  • Typically, package snorkels and dives will occur between 8 am and 10 am and again between 1 pm and 3 pm (twice daily)
  • Blue Marlin Beach Resort reserves the right to refuse service to anyone such as serving alcoholic drinks or participating on a tour, if it is deemed that such action would bring risk to the individual.

Dive Card

  • All divers must present their dive cards. All major certifications are accepted. No one may dive without a valid certification card unless he participates in a Discover Scuba or Open Water Course.

Snorkel Tour Guidelines

  • All snorkel trips are conducted in the resort’s private boat with licensed snorkel guide and boat captain.
  • Snorkel trips are scheduled twice daily at 9:00-9:30 AM and at 2:00-2:30 PM. Private trips, at a supplement cost, can be requested outside of the resort schedule.
  • Snorkel equipment is provided in Snorkel Package and snorkel trips booked on-site but we strongly recommend you bring along personal gears.
  • Prescription snorkel mask are not available so must be brought if needed.
  • Snorkeling in Belize can be enjoyed year-round and we rarely have weather-related trip cancellations. If a trip cannot operate due to weather conditions Blue Marlin Beach Resort will make every effort to reschedule within your stay. The resort management solely determines whether a trip will depart if conditions are not favorable.
  • All snorkel participants will be required to sign Blue Marlin’s Affirmation, Waiver and Release form along with Medical History disclosure prior to tour departure.
  • Blue Marlin Beach Resort reserves the right to refuse service to anyone such as serving alcoholic drinks or participating on a tour, if it is deemed that such action would bring risk to the individual.

Scuba Diving Guidelines

  • All dive trips are conducted in the resort’s private boat with certified dive-master and boat captain.
  • Dive trips are scheduled twice daily one-tank at 9:00-9:30 AM and one-tank at 2:00-2:30 PM. Private trips, at a supplement cost, can be requested outside of the resort schedule.
  • Tanks, weights and belt are provided in Dive Packages and dive trips booked on-site. All necessary personal scuba equipment is available for rent however we strongly recommend you bring along masks, snorkel, fins, and wet-suit (3mm). Advance reservation is required for scuba equipment rental.

      • Regulator: US$20 per day
      • Wet Suit: US$10 per use
      • Snorkel/mask/fins: US$12 per day
  • Personal gears can be stored at the Dive Shack but we recommend you bring along a mesh dive bag for ease of transport and proper storage. Dive staff will assist in handling gears to and from boat, and cleaning and sanitizing after each use.
  • All divers must be certified by an accredited scuba diving agency in order to join a trip conducted by Blue Marlin. Proof of certification includes a dive card or PADI Pro member number. If neither is available, the diver can book a Discover Scuba Diving Course (Cost: $165.00 + 12.5% tax).
  • We require that all divers have a logged dive within the last 24 months in order to join a trip conducted by Blue Marlin. If your last dive was more that 2 years ago we require an Open Water Refresher with our Instructor (Cost: $65.00 US + 12.5% tax); if your last dive was more than 10 years ago we require a Discover Scuba Dive with our Instructor (Cost: $165.00 US + 12.5% tax)
  • Scuba Diving in Belize can be enjoyed year-round and we rarely have weather-related trip cancellations. If a trip cannot operate due to weather conditions Blue Marlin Beach Resort will make every effort to reschedule within your stay. The resort management solely determines whether a trip will depart if conditions are not favorable.
  • Blue Marlin Resort conducts exclusive drift diving with multi-level wall dives.
  • Night Diving and some specialized dive sites are suitable for experienced divers only. The dive resort management will determine a diver’s suitability for a specialized site or night dive after a check-out dive. Night diving can be requested on-site but we recommend you bring along your personal dive light.
  • All dive participants will be required to sign Blue Marlin’s Affirmation, Waiver and Release form along with Medical History disclosure prior to arrival at the resort.
  • If there is a “Yes” answer on the Medical History disclosure form the diver will need to complete the PADI Medical Statement form.
  • The nearest recompression chamber is on Ambergris Caye. We strongly recommend that all divers have Scuba Dive insurance from DAN Insurance (Divers Alert Network).
  • Blue Marlin Beach Resort reserves the right to refuse service to anyone such as serving alcoholic drinks or participating on a tour, if it is deemed that such action would bring risk to the individual.

Storage and Handling of Personal Dive and Snorkel Gear

  • Gear storage is available in the Dive Shop. Blue Marlin Beach Resort staff carries all gear to and from the boats, assists with preparation and washes all equipment in fresh water at the end of each dive trip.
  • Blue Marlin Beach Resort is not liable for missing or damaged equipment.

Respect of Nature and Energy Conservation in Marine Habitat

  • Air-Condition Policy: All accommodations offer air-conditioning. During the daytime we recommend the use of natural air with open windows and fan ventilation to conserve energy. Also turn off the AC whenever you leave the room.
  • Touching, handling, or taking or any wildlife, coral, or plant life from the marine reserve is not allowed. We ask that all our guests refrain from touching coral or wildlife on our snorkel and dive trips.
  • We operate using reserves of rainwater and salt water toilets. We ask our guests to be conscious of water and electrical consumption given our location in the middle of a protected marine park.
  • Since April 2019, the Government of Belize embarked on the phase-out of single use plastics and Styrofoam to protect the Belizean environment from continued plastic pollution. Blue Marlin Beach Resort strongly supports this initiative and encourages our guests to bring personal reusable water bottles. Complimentary purified drinking water stored in 5-gallon dispensers is provided in your room as well as the Main Dining Room.
  • We recommend the use of Reef Safe sunscreen and insect repellent products.
